PROCESS

Our average turnaround time to put together a complete Wastewater and Water Supply application is approximately 2-3 weeks from soil test pits to application submittal, and we’ve completed some design and permitting projects in as little as 3 days.

A complete application typically includes a site plan (1:100 scale typical) including property lines, proposed subdivision lines (if applicable), Plan Details (1:20 scale typical) including building locations, septic design, water supply design, soil data, topography, and any related infrastructure, and a complete state application form.

If you are doing any of the following you will need a wastewater design and a wastewater and water supply permit from the state:

  • Subdividing a property?

  • Building a new house?

  • Adding a bedroom to an existing house?

  • Converting a home from seasonal to year-round use?

  • Replacing a failed water supply or leachfield?

  • Adding an Accessory Dwelling

These are the most common actions triggering the permit process, however, they are NOT the only ones. You may email or call LAES for advice about unique situations, or call the Regional Engineer (https://dec.vermont.gov/water/contacts) that has jurisdiction in your area.
